Then lift the door up and out of the track laying it down carefully across two sawhorses. Do not use oily lubricants on the track as this can. When there s dirt in the door track it not only makes it hard to open and close the door it may cause serious damage if the door jumps the track when it hits an obstruction. Because sliding doors don t fold out the way bifold doors do they allow access to only half the width of the opening at a time.

Slide the door open and shut to move the lubricant around the track making sliding easier. Sliding doors are very heavy very breakable and very expensive this is a two person job. This adjustment screw will move the roller height up or down and thus your sliding glass door height will go up or down by as much as 1 4 inch or 1 2 cm. Tinker around with the roller screws to see if the door glides better when it s at a lower or higher height.

To clean and lubricate the hardware of a sliding closet door use a stiff brush a toothbrush or a hand vacuum to clean dust from the tracks. If the sliding door is still sticky after the tracks have been cleaned use powdered graphite or silicone lubricant to ease things along.
