The granite way is a route of 18 km 11 miles consisting mainly of a motor traffic free cycle walkway between okehampton near the railway station and lydford it was built by devon county council dcc and is part of the national cycle network ncn route 27 devon coast to coast between ilfracombe and plymouth.

The devon coast to coast is a 102 mile cycle walkway between ilfracombe and plymouth much of which is traffic free such as the granite way.
The granite way is part of the national cycle network route 27 devon coast to coast a wonderful cycle track running along the edge of dartmoor but in years past the spectacular views would have been enjoyed by victorian train passengers on their journey between exeter and plymouth.
This 12km ride offers unrivalled views of the moors from the meldon viaduct.
The ncn in devon is being developed by devon county council in partnership with sustrans the sustainable transport charity.
Very easy access at many points along the route and even though it was a busy day with plenty of families also enjoying the path it was still tranquil and you could talke it all in at your own pace.
